The Doors and Windows

All door jambs and window jambs are made in our shop using the same ball and socket joint as the staves used to make the walls. When you get to the place where you want a door or window, you add that section and continue adding staves until you complete the circle.

All our Yurts come with 2 doors and 2 windows. Windows are 3/16” clear acrylic.

You can add additional doors and windows any time you want.

Start with the temporary scaffolding

It will hold the roof ring in place until you install the rafters. Secure the rafters into the metal hangers on the ring 1 at a time.

If you purchased a kit from us all the rafters (where they meet the wall) will be notched.

The notch on each rafter will sit flat on the top of the wall. Secure this into place by using metal hangers, L brackets, toe nails or screws.

One at a time, install each rafter like the first rafter and secure them to the roof ring and wall in much the same manner. Continue around the circle until all the rafters are up and secured to the top of the barrel walls.

Domed Skylight

The domed skylight is ¼” thick pure acrylic. Testing indicates that pure acrylic outlasts other clear polymers, when exposed to the elements for five years or more. The dome, including its flange and down-turned edge, measures five-feet across and is 16-inches tall. It fastens in six places to the compression ring with stainless steel expansion springs and four straps for a weather-tight fit.

Options

Tinted Bronze Domes - significantly reduce heat gain

Easy-Dome Lifter - in warm climates, ventilation is the key to keeping your yurt cool. With the addition of our Euro-Dome Lifter, you can easily raise the leeward side of your dome to allow heat to escape. With a little breeze, an open dome creates a chimney effect for enhanced ventilation. Although any domed skylight can open, the Euro-Dome Lifter lets you raise and lower the dome from floor level using a handheld winding brace.

Roof Sheeting
We supply you with a premier roof fabric made of industrial duty materials, & thermally welded seams for consistent watertight integrity. The valance, a foot-wide band attached to the bottom edge of the roof, covers the roof to wall space for a watertight seal. Should you NOT want our mildew proof vinyl coated polyester, you are ready to sheet the roof in and apply your own roofing materials.

Our standard roof material is an 18.5 oz vinyl coated polyester. This material also features a clear acrylic exterior coating to keep the material clean and add an extra layer of protection against ultra-violet rays and other harmful elements. Available in gray, white and tan.

Options

Duro-Last, our premier roof fabric, is a .040 mil (37 oz.) polymer. This material comes with a 15-year manufacturer’s warranty and is available in gray, white and tan.
